How Meckly was born

A Suzuki Swift,
a missing pen,
and a small idea.

The true story of how a 5-minute wait changed everything.

One Monday morning, a girl walked into a mechanic's shop to book her Suzuki Swift in for a service. She was handed a paper form — a job card — and asked to fill it out.

She started writing.

Halfway down the page, the pen went dry. She scribbled in the margin to wake it up. Nothing. Oh no. She tried again, harder this time, pressing little ghost-letters into the paper. No. No, no, no. The pen had given up.

"Have you got another pen?" she called out.

The mechanic was on the phone in the back, ordering parts. Hold music. Numbers being read out. Pages being flipped. He didn't hear her.

So she looked. Behind the counter. Across the workbench. Between the parts catalogues. Past the receipt printer with its cracked cover and the mug full of bent allen keys. Nothing that worked. One dead pen, and a half-finished form she couldn't finish.

So she stood there. Waiting. Holding the dead pen. Watching a small business being run on hold-music and clipboards. Wondering how many other customers had stood in this exact spot, holding this exact form, in this exact predicament.

And then — somewhere between the third filing cabinet and the dusty parts catalogue — a thought arrived.

The Eureka Moment

"What if I didn't have to fill out forms like this? What if I could manage every booking, every quote, every invoice, every car I've ever owned — in one place?" — and what if my mechanic didn't have to chase paper either?

That morning, two problems became one solution. Drivers shouldn't be hunting for pens. Mechanics shouldn't be hunting for parts. And nobody — on either side of the counter — should be running a 21st-century business on a 1985 clipboard.

That's how Meckly was born. One free app for car owners to manage everything that comes with owning a car. One workshop platform for mechanics to manage everything that comes with running a shop. And in the middle — a connection. Drivers find experts. Experts get more drivers. Nobody fills out a paper form ever again.
